The Smart Dubai Office has announced the launch of a new official central employment portal through which citizens and expatriates can apply for jobs that match their qualifications.
Dubai Careers portal, developed by Smart Dubai Government Establishment (SDG) — the technology arm of Smart Dubai that is supervising Dubai’s smart transformation — is an innovative platform with smart tools that will help connect jobseekers of all categories, including non-UAE residents, with job opportunities in Dubai, officials said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The portal currently gives job hunters access to hundreds of jobs available in Dubai government entities and will see private sector job postings listed at a later stage, they said.
Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director-General, Dubai Smart Office, said the new platform will change the concept of employment in Dubai from searching for a job into finding a future career path.
“The Dubai Careers platform is part of the government’s required change in the mechanism of work of attracting talents and managing Dubai human resources to empower Dubai residents with a better career,” she said
She added that it will enable the private sector and government establishments to play their role in implementing the Dubai 10X Initiative so as to have a platform that meets the expected needs of the world in 10 years from now.
“It is important to contribute to providing the market with highly qualified job seekers and tools that will help achieve UAE’s 2071 vision,” she said.
Wesam Lootah, CEO of SDG, announced that the portal has been designed with a smart mechanism to deal with recruitment applications so as to raise efficiency in the field of employment in Dubai.
Its convenient search function and other smart features will allow jobseekers to look for jobs through different categories that match their talents and abilities and help private and government establishments connect with the right candidates based on a smart-match process, Lootah explained.
“Dubai Careers platform allows users to build their career profiles which can be directly linked to their LinkedIn accounts and access job opportunities that match their skills and expertise. Special categories on the platform will allow jobseekers, such as persons with special needs, fresh graduates and Emiratis, easily find jobs that have been specifically listed for them.”
A category for people looking for volunteering opportunities has also been included as a step towards supporting the UAE’s mission during the Year of Giving, Lootah said.
He added that the platform offers smart solutions at all stages of the employment process starting from the first stage of looking for a job, applying for a job, going through the interview process, which can be done virtually, until the employment stage and further.
“At this point, there are 30 government entities offering job positions, up to 355 openings and more than 600 job vacancies. Both private and government establishments will benefit from the smart-match feature which will match candidates that best fit a position through a ranking system.”
Dubai Careers is the first employment portal that uses Arabic for applying for jobs in addition to English. The portal offers a number of features to jobseekers including registering easily, recommending a family member or a friend for a suitable job through the LinkedIn link, possibly sharing a selected job via social networking platforms and making video interviews anytime and anywhere using smart devices.
