The collection, which is an ode to nature, is known for its blooming graphic flower model and design. Nine original creations ranging from single flowers to bouquets have been added to it.
The pieces — in which heart-shaped petals are arranged three-dimensionally around one or three diamonds — are characterized by their interplays of reflections and geometric lines.
The collection was launched on March 20.
It features small model earrings, a large model pendant and a “Between the Finger” ring, all made in yellow gold and diamonds.
The effect of brilliance is accentuated by the quality of the diamonds, selected by the maison’s experts in keeping with the highest standards: D, E or F for color and VVS for clarity.
Earrings in yellow gold and diamonds or white gold and diamonds make their debut in the collection in a “stud” format that completes the existing range. This new size extends to a pendant and a bracelet with chains, available in both colors of gold. For the first time in the collection, the bracelet is adorned with a single motif.
For the Frivole collection, architectural forms and the orientation of the petals have been worked with care to reproduce the random quality of nature. Mirror polishing — a technique in use at the maison since the 1920s — provides a way of highlighting the glitter of gold and creating intense reflections, suffusing each piece with unique vitality.
From the diamond clips of the 1920s to contemporary jewelry pieces, floral motifs have always been at the heart of Van Cleef & Arpels’ creativity.
Christmas roses and cosmos flowers, poppies and fuchsias, lily-of-the-valley and cherry blossom all feature in the Frivole collection.
