Shares on the Muscat bourse reacted towards the end of the session. The MSM30 Index failed to build on early gains and ended unchanged at 5,792.54 points. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 872.30 points, up by 0.10 per cent. NBO remained the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was NBO, up by 3.31 per cent, while Al Hassan Engineering was the top loser with a loss of 3.64 per cent.
A total number of 710 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR2.99 million with 14.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, eight advanced, 17 declined and 19 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers for OMR281,000 while GCC and Arab investors stayed net sellers for OMR234,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR47,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index retreated 0.13 per cent to close at 7,892.56 points. NBO, Al Batinah Investment, HSBC Bank and Oman United Insurance gained 3.31 per cent, 1.01 per cent, 0.77 per cent and 0.58 per cent, respectively. Oman & Emirates Holding, Al Sharqia Investments, Al Madina Investments, Bank Nizwa and Ahli Bank fell 2.78 per cent, 2.05 per cent, 1.69 per cent, 1.12 per cent and 1.05 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 7,542.69 points, up by 0.23 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics and Gulf International Chemicals increased by 2.75 per cent and 0.34 per cent, respectively. Al Hassan Engineering, Oman Fisheries and Al Jazeera Steel declined by 3.64 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 0.39 per cent, respectively.
Services Index declined by 0.08 per cent to close at 3,030.29 points. Oman Telecommunications Company, up by 0.69 per cent, was the only gainer. Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Services, OIFC and Port Services declined by 2.17 per cent, 0.97 per cent, 0.96 per cent and 0.43 per cent, respectively.
