The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) closed slightly higher on Friday.
The all share index was 0.04 percent higher to 53,506.62 points and the top 40 index climbed 0.10 percent, while gold had gained 0.87 percent to 1,332.84 U.S. dollars an ounce.
The resources shares were 0.99 percent higher while the financial index lost 0.07 percent at the close of session on Friday.
The South Africa rand was trading stronger at R14.07 to the U.S. dollar, R18.53 to the British pound and R15.86 to the euro at 5 pm.
Among individual shares, diversified miner and trader Glencore (GLN) was up 2.88 percent to R34.27, with BHP Billiton (BIL) gaining 2.01 percent R200.01
However, gold miners continued to come off the boil, with Gold Fields losing 2.29 percent to R82.07 and Sibanye Gold (SGL) shedding 1.45 percent to R62.00.
