Tokyo shares rose on Tuesday as the dollar gained against the yen after markets appeared to give Hillary Clinton the edge over Donald Trump in the first US presidential debate.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index closed up 0.84%, or 139.37 points, at 16,683.93. The Topix index of all first-section shares rose 1.00%, or 13.38 points, to 1,349.22.
