Tsvetan Simeonov, president of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), said here on Friday that he was optimistic about the development of the country's economy.
The situation was not an easy one with the migrant crisis and the turbulence in neighboring countries, but the Bulgarian business had coped with those, Simeonov said at a press conference.
For him, the most important thing was that macroeconomic stability in Bulgaria had been maintained, and taxes had not been increased.
"I can say that companies which are facing difficulties in their own countries, I mean Turkey and Greece, intend to increase their investments in Bulgaria," Simeonov said.
Referring to recent data from the National Statistical Institute, he recalled that in the second quarter of 2016, the country's gross domestic product grew by 3.0 percent year-on-year.
BCCI, established in 1895, is an independent, non-governmental organization for the assistance, promotion, representation, and protection of the business interests of its members.
