Just a mere 6 percent of likely U.S. voters rate Congress' performance as good or excellent, a new low, a Rasmussen Reports survey released Tuesday indicated. Last month congressional approval ratings fell to what was then a record low with 8 percent of participants rating its performance as good or excellent, Rasmussen Reports said in a release. Sixty-one percent of likely voters, who expressed ire with both parties, said they think congressional members are doing a poor job, a jump of 9 percentage points from a month ago. Only 11 percent of likely voters said they think this Congress has passed any legislation that significantly improves life in America, tying the lowest ever finding in nearly five years, Rasmussen Reports said. Sixty-nine percent said they think Congress has not passed any legislation that is significant, a 6-point increase from June and the most negative assessment ever. The majority of voters said they were worried that a final deal will raise taxes too much and won't cut spending enough, the pollster said. Results are based on nationwide telephone surveys with 1,000 likely voters conducted Monday and Tuesday. The margin of error is 3 percentage points.
