The 17.6-kilometer toll road linking Bawen to Salatiga in Central Java will be ready for use during this years Lebaran exodus.
"I am optimistic the Bawen-Salatiga toll road would be ready to accommodate the travelers ten days before Idul Fitri (H-10). Currently, the construction of toll road has been 99 percent completed," Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimulyono said here on Sunday.
Starting from Saturday (June 10), Basuki Hadimulyono and his entourage used cars to inspect a parking bay, non-toll roads, and toll roads directly to ensure the readiness of infrastructure ahead of the Lebaran exodus.
The inspection will be completed in Solo, Central Java.
"The toll road is expected to be fully in operation before Idul Fitri," the minister stated.
The minister said that the toll road was very strategic for the tourist route to Yogyakarta, Solo, and East Java.
"Travelers will have many alternative routes to go to their destinations," he pointed out.
The minister remarked that traffic signs and safety fences have been installed along the Bawen-Salatiga toll road.
The Bawen-Salatiga toll road section is part of the Trans-Java toll road that will connect Jakarta to Semarang, Semarang to Solo, Solo to Surabaya, and Surabaya to Banyuwangi.
The trans-Java toll road linking Jakarta and Surabaya is expected to be completed in 2018 as an effort to reduce traffic density on the countrys most populated island.
