New home prices in Canada rose 0.1 percent in March after a 0.2 percent increase in February, Statistics Canada reported Thursday. Nationally, month-to-month home price increases have been steady for the past year, rising in a range of 0.1 percent to 0.3 percent since March 2012, the data agency said. For March, the largest price increase was reported by Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan with an increase of 0.7 percent. That was followed by a 0.5 percent price climb in both Windsor, Ontario, and Saskatoon Saskatchewan, the data agency said.. On a 12-month basis, Winnipeg posted the largest gains with prices up 5.1 percent from March 2012. The agency\'s new home price index for March came in at 109.4, up from 109.3 in February. The index is a comparison to the average index reading for 2007, which was assigned a value of 100.
