Starwood, which currently operates 50 hotels in the Middle East and 20 properties in the UAE said the majority of Starwood jobs will be created through new hotels the company and its development partners are planning to open in the MENA region. The UAE will play a key role in the company’s growth, with 10 new hotels already planned across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman in the coming few years. It will be looking for wait staff, kitchen porters, chefs, admin workers, drivers, managers, cleaners, butlers and security staff among many others. Middle East was a key growth market for the firm and only the second region after North America. In Asia, Starwood’s expansion plans include the opening of 14 new hotels in India by 2011 under its Aloft, Westin and Sheraton brands, and entry into China with its Luxury Collection brand. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide’s brand portfolio includes, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Westin, Le Méridien, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft, and ElementSM.
