Actor and director Jason "Jace" Alexander, 51, was charged Wednesday by Westchester County Police with possessing and promoting child pornography.
An investigation by the Westchester County District Attorney's Office linked Alexander to child pornography stored on his computer through a corresponding IP (internet protocol) address. A search through his computer files at home showed a wealth of digital content featuring children under 16 engaged in pornography.
Alexander was arraigned in Dobbs Ferry Village Court before being released on a $10,000 bail. His court date is set for Nov. 19.
Alexander is the son of actress Jane Alexander, a former director of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Alexander has had a directorial position on many television shows, including more than 30 episodes of Law & Order as well as assorted episodes of Rescue Me, The Practice and Ally McBeal. He had an acting stint throughout the '80s an '90s, including appearance on Broadway. He is also married with three children. In June, Alexander was also elected the second vice president of the Directors Guild of America (DGA), which has not commented on the charges.
