Lupita Nyong'o's beautiful, pearl-covered gown has been returned to The London West Hollywood hotel by an alleged thief who says it is worthless.
Nyong'o wore the eye-catching Calvin Klein creation -- which reportedly was valued at $150,000 -- when she was a presenter at Sunday's Oscars ceremony.
The actress told police the dress was taken from her hotel room some time Tuesday.
The person who allegedly stole the frock contacted TMZ Friday afternoon and revealed the dress could be found in a garment bag, inside a trash bag, in a bathroom adjacent to the hotel's fitness center.
The caller also told the celebrity news website he took the dress after noticing the actress' hotel room door was ajar. He said he then had the pearls on the dress assessed, only to be told they were of little value.
TMZ said it called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which then recovered the gown.
No arrests have been made yet.
A Calvin Klein source doubted anyone at the fashion house claimed the gown was covered in real pearls.
"Did anyone ever say they were real from Calvin Klein? I always assumed everyone knew they were fake, but I guess not," the insider said. "Do they really make dresses out of real jewels since Cleopatra died?"
