Baghdad - Arabstoday

Iraqi singer Shatha Hassoun revealed that she ended her engagement to her fiancé of three years after she discovered he was cheating on her. The day she won first place on the talent show Star Academy was her fiancé’s wedding to another woman, said Shatha. “The one thing I cannot forgive is betrayal, it breaks up any relationship,” she said. On a different note, Shatha said that one day she intends to wear a hijab (Islamic female headdress) to complete her religion. However, the time has yet to come for her to take such a big step, in part due to her career. Shatha said that she is careful about following the teachings of Islam and makes it a central part of her life. Shatha denied rumors that there are disputes between her and singers Amal Hijazi, Mariam Fares, Arwa, Yara, Rahma and Claudia Hinna. Shatha asserts that she has never met any of the said singers. Her main goal, for the time being, is to make a name for herself through her career, said Shatha.
