Algeria has deployed more troops on its borders with Mali to stand up against smugglers and militants' intrusion across the borders.
The Algerian "Al-Khabar" newspaper said more military reinforcements were seen on Bordj Baji Mokhtar border area where 4500 elements have been deployed.
The Algerian army on Sunday arrested a senior militant at al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), and killed three of his companions in an ambush set in a remote area on the border between Algeria and Mali, a security source said.
The source said the military deployment on the borders will be beefed up with air sorties to secure the borders and prevent terrorists infiltration of the borders area.
Other security measures will also be taken to secure the roads near the borders, especially with the Mali has reportedly been hit by the Ebola epidemic.
