A UN peacekeeper from Togo and two Malian civilians were killed Sunday in an attack in the Mopti region of Mali, a UN spokesman said in a statement.
Seven peacekeepers from the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) were injured in the attack, which occurred north of Douentza, in the Mopti region, said the statement.
After a mine or improvised explosive device was detonated, attackers opened fire on the convoy, the UN said, without identifying the assailants.
In another attack, Seven soldiers have been killed and seven others wounded after a military camp was attacked by assailants in the North of Mali on Sunday. The attack occurred around Gourma Rhaous at Tombouctou Region.
The MINUSMA, which was deployed in 2013 to support the political process and carry out security-related stabilization tasks, has become a frequent target of terrorist attacks in Mali.
