Three Pakistani soldiers were killed on Sunday when suspected militants fired rockets at their post in the country's north-western tribal region, officials said, according to dpa.
The pre-dawn attack occurred in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan
near the Afghan border, where the military has been battling al-Qaeda
and Taliban militants since mid-June.
Three soldiers were injured in the shelling.
The Pakistani army is trying to drive out militants from North Waziristan, an al-Qaeda and Taliban hideout.
The military said last week it had killed more than 1,000 rebels and
lost 82 soldiers in three-month campaign.
