At least 28 suspected Taliban militants were killed in north-western Pakistan, along the Afghan border, dpa quoted Pakistani security forces as saying on Saturday. The security forces and pro-government tribal militia conducted a joint operation in the Salarzai area of Bajaur, one of seven tribal districts where the militants are active. A security official said the operation was launched after a tip-off about the presence of militants in the area. He said the fighting went on for hours, during which two members of the tribal militia were wounded. The killings come a day after the Bajaur Taliban commander, Mullah Dadullah, and 12 supporters were killed in a NATO airstrike in the eastern Afghan province of Kunar.
