At least 47 militants were killed on Tuesday during the comprehensive military operation, launched in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said military.
A press release by public relations wing of Pakistan military, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said "27 terrorists were killed in jet aircraft strikes in Mir Ali and surroundings areas this afternoon. Eleven Terrorist's hideouts were destroyed." Huge cache or arms and ammunition were also destroyed, said ISPR, while "20 Terrorists were killed in early morning air strikes on terrorist's hideouts in Khyber Agency. Twelve terrorist's hideouts were destroyed." The number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) crossed 450,000 on Tuesday as the military operation in North Waziristan is in full swing.
A vehicle borne suicide attack attempt was also foiled in Spinwam area of North Waziristan that killed two soldiers. The Zarb-e-Azb" military operation has reportedly killed over 300 local and foreign militants in North Waziristan so far and the ground offensive is yet to be launched.
