Three militants were killed and six security personnel injured in attempt by unidentified gunmen to storm the Mitiga prison facility in the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
Guards of Mitiga prison repelled on Friday an armed attack on the facility, the spokesman for the deterrence forces said.
Moaaz Khalil said that the forces were able to counter the assailants, who were wearing explosive belts, without giving details on casualties or damage.
Libya has been witnessing a rising insurgency by different rebel groups and militias and an increasing use of weapons since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011.
