A Federal Police Officer announced on Sunday, that security forces recaptured al-Harakiyat area, the biggest oil smuggling point belonging to the Islamic State, south of Mosul.
Major Kareem Jamal said in a press statement, “Security forces managed to recapture al-Harakiyat area, which is considered the biggest oil smuggling point belonging to the Islamic State from areas south of Mosul to outside the city.”
“Security forces also imposed it control over the entire area, after violent clashes resulted in the killing of 16 members of the Islamic State, as well as wounding others,” Jamal added.
Meanwhile, Iraqi security forces continue liberating the western side of the city of Mosul, while pushing deeper into residential areas and neighborhoods, to drive out the Islamic State’s militants.
