Iraqi forces affiliated with Baghdad Operations Command foiled on Saturday a plan by Daesh terrorist group to breach security in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
An attempt by Daesh militants to conduct suicide attacks in Baghdad has been thwarted, spokesman for Baghdad Operations Command said in press statements.
Colonel Saad Moen said the Iraqi forces have successfully killed one of the militants and seized a booby-trapped car belonging to the terrorist group.
The car included six explosive belts, 45 explosives, 15 grenades as well as 33 mobile phones that were prepared to detonate bombs, he noted.
In southern Mosul, Colonel Moen went on to say, Iraqi troops killed a Daesh leader called 'Ammar Saleh Abu Bakr' along with 17 other terrorists.
Several booby-trapped cars were also detonated by Iraqi army in the same region, he added.
