About ten Algerian, Moroccan and Tunisian singers gave a glowing tribute, at the Paris Cabaret Sauvage stage, to Cheb Akil who passed away one year ago in a road accident in Morocco.
Khalass, Djamel, Maria, Hassen, Fouzi and Zoubir, amongst others, sang Cheb Akil’s most popular songs, including “Diroulha El Aakl” and “Mazal Mazal”.
The event, which took place in a festive atmosphere, was organized at the initiative of Beur FM host DJ KIM who was a close friend of the deceased.
“I thank all the artists who responded to an open call. The profits of the event will be given to Cheb Akil’s daughters, it is only a symbolic gesture from Algerians in France,” the organizer told APS.
The Algerian Rai singer Cheb Akil died in a road accident which occurred 13 June 2013 in the region of Tanger-Tetouan (north of Morocco).
