The Lebanese Hezbollah group has confirmed its military commander, Mustafa Badreddine, was killed in Syria in what it described as a "major explosion" near Damascus airport.
Hezbollah announced it was investigating whether a "missile or artillery strike" has been responsible.
He will be laid to rest later in the day, according to a statement by Hezbollah.
