The Ministry of Transport announced the highest state of alert at all railway and Metro stations nationwide in cooperation with the transport police in anticipation of criminal acts targeting railway and Metro facilities recently.
In statements here on Tuesday, Minister Hani Dahi said a number of measures have been taken to secure passengers from the moment they enter the station until they use the train and reach their destination.
The measures include using 28 explosives detection devices at stations and inside trains and 18 luggage screening devices at main stations and the underground Metro, he said.
Police dogs are also used in inspecting trains before leaving stations, he said, calling for reinstalling surveillance cameras at railway stations to detect any suspicious moves
