Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy said that the harmful effects of climate change in Egypt in the future will reach vital sectors, including tourism.

The increase of the water level in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean will have negative repercussions on 600 touristic resorts and international hotels, Fahmy told MENA.

The projects and investments will be affected by the rise in water temperature especially in the Red Sea hence affecting coral reefs and marine creatures, Fahmy said, adding that fishing will be difficult.

Climate change affects health, fresh air, drinking water, sufficient food and safe haven, Fahmy said.

High heat can cause deaths due to heart and breathing diseases especially among the elder people, he said.
