Thailand's former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra has fled Thailand, a senior source in her political party told AFP on Friday, after she skipped a court date that could have resulted in a jail term.

"She is definitely no longer here, she is likely in Singapore now," the source said, declining to be named. "She left on Wednesday."
