French President Emmanuel Macron said Friday that democratic nations must respect the "rule of law," referring to the jailing of several journalists in Turkey.

"Democracies must fully respect the rule of law," Macron said after talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, adding that the two men had discussed a list of individual cases of jailed journalists during their talks.
