Spain PM calls crisis cabinet meeting on Catalonia at 1600 GMT

The meeting will come just hours after the semi-autonomous region's parliament

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said Friday he has called a crisis cabinet meeting at 1600 GMT after the Senate voted to grant his conservative government powers to impose direct rule on Catalonia.

The meeting will come just hours after the semi-autonomous region's parliament approved a motion declaring independence.
