Fourth seed Lucie Safarova advanced to the final of the Connecticut Open WTA event on Friday with a straight sets victory over Lesya Tsurenko of Ukraine.

The Czech world number six downed Tsurenko 6-2, 7-6 (7/4) and will now face either Caroline Wozniacki or Petra Kvitova in Saturday's final.

The Connecticut event is the final women's tune up before the US Open.
