Hong Kong stocks surged more than three percent in the afternoon, in line with an Asia-wide rally after the head of the European Central Bank hinted at fresh economy-boosting measures for the eurozone.

The Hang Seng Index added 3.04 percent, or 562.84 points, to 19,104.99.
