The International Monetary Fund Friday approved the disbursal of a new $1.7 billion loan to Ukraine despite uncertainty over the country's debt and a conflict with separatist forces.

In March, with Kiev on the brink of bankruptcy after a year of war, the Fund extended a $17.5 billion line of credit disbursable in tranches and subject to drastic economic measures.
