The EU formally charged Google on Wednesday over how it markets its hugely-used Android mobile phone operating system in a fresh salvo by Europe against the Silicon Valley giant.

"Statement of Objections to Google: It seems like you are abusing your dominant position by imposing restrictions on Andriod device makers," Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said on Twitter.
