Jeffrey Tambor won the Emmy for best actor in a comedy series on Sunday for his portrayal of a transgender woman on Amazon's "Transparent" -- the first major win for the online retail giant's original programming.

"I'd like to dedicate my performance and this award to the transgender community. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your courage. Thank you for your stories. Thank you for your inspiration," Tambor said in his acceptance speech.
