Community fans, rejoice -- there may be hope for the program yet.
Producer Sony Pictures Television is reportedly in talks with streaming service Hulu to bring back the NBC comedy. The series debuted in September 2009, and ran for five seasons before its cancellation in May 2014.
"We, more than any other studios, fight for shows that we believe in," Sony Pictures Television co-president Jamie Erlicht told The Hollywood Reporter shortly after the show was cancelled. "This show had a remarkable history."
"We've been on the receiving end of some phone calls, but we really need to get together with the Community team and have real conversations and figure out the future," he continued. "If there's any show that should have a future or could have a future, it really feels like Community is the one."
On Hulu, Community has consistently been one of the most watched TV series.
Showrunner Dan Harmon has said on his blog that he "won't be lukewarm" about a revival should it come about. He assured fans he won't be "the guy that re-cancels canceled Community," but also warned "there are a lot of reasons a Community resurrection could be difficult."
The talks between Hulu and Sony Pictures Television are currently in the negotiation phase.
