London - Caroline Kent
Fyodor Golan's show London - Caroline Kent London Fashion Week kicked off on Friday and if the first day was anything to go by, it will be the biggest and best the city has ever seen. Highlights of the day included Kokon to Zai's kooky Japanese styling and Bora Asku's breathtaking femininity. Felder Felder boasted the biggest celebrities quote with Brit popstars VV Brown, Kate Nash and Mollie King of The Saturdays on the front-row (alongside the Made In Chelsea crew, naturally). The British Fashion Council has this season teamed up with YouTube to broadcast 21 shows live from its LFW channel. The BFC has also welcomed new and old faces on to the schedule, including L'Wren Scott, Rihanna (who is set to show her River Island collaboration on Saturday) and Julien Macdonald, who makes his return after after a year-long hiatus. Tom Ford will also stage his first full-scale womenswear show on Monday. Whilst on Saturday evening Victoria Beckham, Donatella Versace and Diane von Furstenburg will host the International Woolmark Prize, the culmination of a search for the industry's next big star. "I've just returned from New York and what struck me, and people told me, was the palpable excitement of what lay ahead in London this week," explained new BFC chairman Natalie Massenet, as she launched fashion week on Friday morning. "We need to take a holistic 365-day view to grow the industry. The time is now to make things happen for British fashion in a big way. We want to celebrate being the most exciting fashion capital in the world."
