Hermès has unveiled the Arceau Pocket Amazones, a beautiful pocket watch inspired by the motif of a tie designed by Henri d’Origny, the Arceau Pocket Amazones exalts the spirit of the Maison Hermès through centuries-old hand-crafted expertise: grand feu enamelling, along with the miniature painting and paillonné (spangled) techniques. Gracefully swept over by a pair of hands, the paillonné enamel dial highlights the elegance of the mounts and their riders. The smallest details of the coat of the horse and that of the horsewoman riding side-saddle, give vibrant life to the scene. The delicate nuances and the interplay of light and shade endow it with a vitality that only an experienced master-enameller can reveal by perfectly mastering the successive firings of the enamels at a temperature of around 800°C. Gold spangles delicately applied one by one during the enamelling process carpet the ground with a shimmering radiance, lending exceptional depth to this depiction. The timeless Arceau Pocket Amazones embodies the very essence of the Hermès style. The nobility it exudes bears eloquent testimony to the historical know-how cultivated by the House. The emblematic upper attachment, inspired by the equestrian world and imagined in 1978 by Henri d’Origny, is bridled by a hand-sewn alligator strap. Behind the scenes, the Manufacture calibre H1928 trots steadily and accurately, and its manually chamfered and polished finishes, along with the solid gold oscillating weight adorned with a cavalry of “H” letters, are visible through the sapphire crystal case-back. The pocket watch is great as a present or souvenir
