Yanic Simard, the talented Canadian interior designer, recently renovated his kitchen. With a totally functional layout, the space didn’t need a drastic makeover. But according to the designer, the kitchen did feel dull, therefore needed an upgrade. It’s the feeling you get once you get too used to a certain thing. It becomes mundane and then, out of the sudden, it doesn’t feel interesting anymore. Now, to add a sense of new to his kitchen (and this is something you might want also to experience at home), Yanic started by respraying the cabinets in a deep masculine tone of colour, with blue undertones: Benjamin Moore 2062-20 Gentleman’s Grey. To make the most of the renovation, here’s a useful painting guide to help you with the job. This is a really cool project for the D.I.Y.-ers, for it totally transforms your kitchen in no time. Now, here comes the best part: in case you got bored of the same-old, same-old stainless steel faucets and fixtures, here’s a trendy alternative: gold-toned fixtures and faucets with custom brass finish. They really stand out and create an interesting contrast without being too extravagant. You can neatly mix them with stainless steel appliances. Don’t be afraid, they work well together! After all, gold is chic and modern and combined with the right design elements, it make the most of your space. Source: Freshome
