A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale was detected in the Banda Sea, South Moluccas, Indonesia at 10.13pm Sunday. The Malaysian Meterological Department said in a statement the epicentre was 382km southeast of Ambon, Indonesia, 1,813km southeast of Tawau, Sabah. It said the quake did not pose a tsunami threat.
