Addis Ababa - MENA
The tripartite national committee on Ethiopia Renaissance Dam convened here on Wednesday with the participation of 12 experts from Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia amid upbeat over the success of diplomatic efforts led by the leaders of the three countries.
The meetings, that will run for two days, are chaired by water ministers of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia; Hossam Moghazi, Moataz Moussa and Alemayehu Tegenu, respectively.
They will choose the international consultative office that will conduct the technical studies needed for the Ethiopian Dam project according to the roadmap agreed by the three countries in August in Khartoum.
In statement before the meetings, Hossam Moghazi said the meetings come within the framework of the strenuous efforts exerted to rebuild trust among the three countries and in the wake of the recent visit made by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his meetings with senior officials in Sudan and Ethiopia.
The minister asserted that the coming phase will witness more rapprochement between the three countries in the water file.
He also voiced hope over choosing the technical office over the coming two days and reaching consensus among the three countries, noting that one of four consultative offices will be named to conduct the dam studies.
