The number of people purchasing new vehicles in South Korea rose from a year earlier in the first three quarters with the number of people writing off their aged cars also increasing, the government said Friday. As of the end of September, the number of registered vehicles in South Korea reached 18.37 million, up 2.4 percent from 17.94 million cars tallied at the end of 2010, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.
