Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, said that the emirate, under the leadership of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has set a unique example in advocating charitable work and launching humanitarian initiatives across the globe based on the UAE’s authentic human values.
On the occasion of World Humanitarian Day on 19th August, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi called on international communities to support philanthropic programmes targeted at refugees and displaced people and urged them to join forces in alleviating the suffering of victims of conflicts and disasters.
He emphasised that based on the UAE’s beliefs and ethics, humanitarian work is everyone’s responsibility and it is not just limited to material assistance, but also includes words of kindness and encouragement.
Lauding the United Nations’ vital role in spreading awareness of the significance of charitable work and mobilising efforts towards the support of those affected by conflicts and crises, Al Qasimi called for responding to international organisation’s humanitarian campaigns.
He expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts of workers around the world, who risk their lives to provide assistance to those in need. He further stressed the need for societies to protect and look after these workers.
