Kuwait Journalists Society on Wednesday said that it looked forward to a well-reformed information ministry. In a statement welcoming the appointment of Shaikh Hamad Jaber Al Ali as the new information minister, the society said that there was great work awaiting the official to improve the ministry and enhance its work. "We are aware that Shaikh Hamad is competent and apt to reform the ministry," the society said. "However, he needs to have a full opportunity to work peacefully to enhance the work flow and boost competency at the ministry," it said. Al Ali who was given the portfolio on Tuesday replaces Sami Al Nasef, a liberal writer who resigned in July, two months after his appointment, citing health reasons. He worked in the former interior minister's office in the 1980s before moving as an assistant undersecretary into the office of Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah who was then the crown prince. He later worked as a diplomat in the Kuwait embassy in Italy before his appointment as the head of mission in Rome.
