A presidential decree appointing former interior minister Mohamed Ibrahim as an adviser to the prime minister was published by the official gazette on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued a decree appointing Ibrahim as an adviser to the prime minister for security affairs.
Ibrahim was replaced by Magdy Abdel Ghaffar, who took the oath as new interior minister of Egypt.
