The first Arab online tutoring company aiming to serve an estimated nine million Arab students with internet access in the Middle East and North Africa region has been launched. Emuallim, the new educational portal, provides homework help and skill gap tutoring in Math, Science, English and other customised learning solutions, Qatari daily The Peninsula said. According to Emuallim administrators, the website aims to leverage the growing influence of internet in the region to provide greater access to supplementary education, especially for female students. \"Culturally, online tutoring makes sense to the Arab world, it\'s an advantage for the students as well as parents saving precious time, money and travel,\" Paul Babu, co-founder of the company, said, quoted by the daily. Students and tutors meet in an online classroom where they can speak, write and share documents and work out problems together in real time, just like classroom environment, he said. \"The classes are fully recorded and can be replayed anytime. It will be up to the students and parents to decide whether they want to enable video conferencing since they will study one-on-one with tutors,\" Babu said. From / Gulf News
