The U.A.E. Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has issued a circular to all public higher education institutions, the private educational institutions, and the Scholarship and Cultural Foreign Relations Department, on the registration in the National and Reserve Service Authority.
The circular stated, "With reference to the Federal Law No. 6 of 2014 on National and Reserve Service, accepting national male students of high school graduates in the public higher education institutions, the private educational institutions, and for external scholarships is considered an initial acceptance until the announcement of the names of candidates for the national service." Therefore, it continued, all public higher education institutions, the private higher education institutions, and the Scholarship and Cultural Foreign Relations Department "should abide by this law, and direct all male students of the high school graduates for the current year to register for the national service, and not to complete their registration procedures for the year 2014-2015 until they provide documents that prove that the student has registered in the National and Reserve Service Authority." The National and Reserve Service Authority of U.A.E. Armed Forces called on male citizens of high school graduates for the academic year (2013- 2014), who meet the admission requirements of national service, to go to the recruitment centres in order to complete the process of recording data.
According to Staff Major General Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service, notifying the wanted persons for recruitment was through advertising in the media, and direct contact by the registration centres according to the geographical scope of each one, and via SMS, in coordination with the public and private universities and bodies and Emirates Identity Authority.
The Ministry's circular came in line with the U.A.E. Vision 2021, which aims to make the U.A.E. one of the best countries in the world, in addition to the benefits that the State will gain from the national and reserve service project, such as implanting loyalty and patriotism in the hearts of children, as it represents a practical translation of the vision of President of the U.A.E. and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Members of Supreme Council, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and their keen interest in the country's youth and future of the nation.
