Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Hisham Sharaf met on Saturday with the U.S. ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tueller.
They discussed the bilateral cooperation areas between the two countries especially in the field of training and rehabilitation.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibility of assisting Yemeni students who have scholarships and facilitate the procedures for granting them visas to study in the U.S. at the expense of the Yemeni government.
The meeting touched on the participation of the U.S. at the annual conference for scientific research and development to be held in November in Sanaa, as well as the expansion and development of educational and research relations between the Yemeni and American universities.
In the meeting, Sharaf highly appreciated the U.S. efforts to support the rehabilitation of Yemeni cadres within the framework of the development programs, affirming Yemen's need for a training and rehabilitation project for a large number of Yemeni students in various levels of education and professional stages.
The U.S. ambassador pointed to his country's keenness to strengthen the cooperation relations with Yemen in the scientific and research fields.
Tueller confirmed his country's support to the political leadership and the national reconciliation government until the completion of the political settlement based on the Gulf initiative and the outcomes of the national dialogue conference.
