Abu Dhabi University and Zakat Fund have collected AED50 million throughout six years of their joint annual Ramadan campaign, "Our Youth Our Responsibility, Our Zakat Our Immunity", thereby easing the financial burdens of more than 1,500 students who were eligible as per the conditions and criteria of Zakat.
Commenting on the successful partnership, Abdullah Al Muhairi, Secretary-General of the Zakat Fund, said, "The strategic relationship and successful mutual cooperation between the Fund and Abu Dhabi University translates the aim of the MoU signed by both parties in 2010 to enhance cooperation in humanitarian and social work in the field of education, and achieved monumental success that exceeded expectations through exploring the students’ future needs throughout the duration of their academic journey, and effectively contributed to their shift from welfare to self-reliance."
Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, expressed the university’s pride in the fruitful cooperation with Zakat Fund that has succeeded in yielding in generous donations that helped shape the future of many financially challenged students.
Charles Diab, Director of ADU’s University Advancement, explained that last year, the annual Ramadan campaign succeeded in elevating academic financial burdens of 300 Emirati students who met the Zakat requirements, with more than AED50,000 allocated to each student throughout the academic year.
