Samsung’s Galaxy S III sells 41 million units

Samsung says it has sold more than 100 million of its Galaxy S brand of smartphones since the models were launched in 2010.
The new tally of Galaxy S, S II and S III phones comes
amid suggestions the iPhone 5, produced by major rival Apple, has been met with with sluggish demand, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Other US media sources reported Apple has significantly cut back on orders for various components intended for iPhone 5 production, such as its display screens, in the current financial quarter.
Samsung's Galaxy S models, all running Google's Android operating system, have proved to be the most popular brand of smartphone so far, propelling the Korean electronics giant ahead of Nokia as the top mobile phone manufacturer in 2012.
More than 25 million Galaxy S smartphones, 40 million Galaxy S II devices and 41 million units of the current flagship Galaxy S III phone have been sold, according to Samsung sources.
A new member of the Galaxy S family of smartphones is expected sometime in the first half of this year, the Times said.
