Currently on a visit to the US, Communications Minister Yasser el Qadi held a number of meetings with leaders of giant IT companies with the aim to maximize value-added investments in Egypt.
Talks also focused on efforts to boost strategic cooperation between Cairo and Washington based on the concept of partnership, a statement by the Communications Ministry here said Tuesday.
Qadi put the IT officials in the picture about positive developments in the Egyptian communications and IT sector, which came first in Egypt in terms of growth rates achieved during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
He also posted them on progress achieved in terms of electronic designing and manufacturing, noting that this initiative is meant to turn Egypt into a regional hub and increase its IT exports.
Qadi also talked about a developing outsourcing industry in Egypt, stressing that Egypt came fourth worldwide in this field.
The talks also took up means to support Egypt's position on the international map of IT industry, as well as efforts to attract American and international investments to the Egyptian market.
