The German Foreign Ministry has donated 50,000 euros to restore the golden mask of Tutankhamun.

The restoration process will start this month, the German center for media said in a statement on Tuesday.

It added that the restoration of Tutankhamun's mask will be carried out by the German Archaeological Institute, the Romano-Germanic Central Museum and an Egyptian-German scientific committee.

This project aims at boosting cooperation and exchanging expertise between Egypt and Germany in the field of monument restoration, the statement concluded.
